Major Takeaways

  • Managing Deadlines and Event Planning

I was tasked with helping plan and execute a grand opening celebration within a month. My responsibilities included coordinating with sponsors and caterers, and designing invitations and business cards for our sales representatives. Since our main partner for the event was a European brand, I collaborated closely with their marketing team and the CEO to launch the website and ensure everything was on track. Due to the time difference, I had to work quickly and efficiently, with a 3-4 hour window each day to align with their business hours.

The event was a success, drawing over 200 attendees, securing 5 sponsors, and generating 4 valuable leads.

  • AD Design

I was asked to create graphics and ad pages within a tight 2-day deadline. I worked closely with the CEO of Gala Design-Studio, as well as the marketing teams from Boffi and Luxe.

The ad design was successfully published in Luxe Magazine, reaching over 4.5 million people across all platforms.

  • Crossfunctional Teams

I was tasked with creating presentations for clients and contractors. To ensure accuracy and clarity, I collaborated closely with interior designers to understand key terms, design concepts, and functionality, so I could effectively communicate these elements in the presentations.

I successfully worked across teams and created two impactful presentations.

Baylor

August 2022 - May 2023

Marketing, PR, and Communications intern at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business

Takeaways

  • Interviews and Articles

During this internship, I interviewed over 15 people to write articles for the Hankamer School of Business website. I also had the opportunity to travel to Austin with other departments to conduct an interview for an article that was later published in The News. The most rewarding part of creating these articles, aside from seeing them published, was hearing such a wide range of stories and perspectives, then transforming them into pieces others could enjoy. Connecting with these individuals and learning what makes their perspectives unique is a major reason why I'm passionate about pursuing a career in marketing.

  • Centennial Event

I interned the year leading up to the HSB's Centennial Event. To help ensure its success, I designed a survey that was distributed to the school’s faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders. The results gave valuable insights into who was aware of the upcoming centennial, how people stay connected with the school, and what would motivate them to attend events. I also participated in brainstorming sessions for event merchandise and contributed to discussions about a building projection that would be showcased during the event.

  • Proactive and Experimental

As a PR intern, I initially worked under the Assistant Director of Content, but I was eager to explore other areas of the department. So, I asked if any of the other directors needed help, which led to me working closely with three directors in the marketing department.

I supported the Associate Director of Digital Strategy by managing the HSB website through copy editing, ensuring a clean and organized site that served as a reliable resource for everyone at Baylor.

I conducted interviews and wrote articles for the Assistant Director of Content, resulting in five published articles for the HSB website and one feature in The News.

I also created graphics and videos using Adobe software and helped maintain the podcast website for the Marketing Specialist, which led to my work being showcased across campus and online to keep students informed about upcoming events.

Painted a mural for a dessert shop located in Katy, Texas

Designed and painted a 36 ft x 6 ft mural

Design Process

Final Draft

Wanted a simpler design

Theme: Winter Wonderland

Description: fun, classy, kitschy, kaws inspired, fun hangout

Colors: Vibrant, bright blues with a splash of red

Takeaways

  • Design Process

Before starting the design process, the store owner provided me with some initial ideas and guidelines. However, with each design I submitted, she made multiple revisions, adding more of her own ideas along the way. I also realized that I had different interpretations of her vision. To address this and ensure I could deliver a final design before the deadline, I arranged a meeting where she could share all her ideas directly, and I could ask questions in real-time to better understand her vision.

  • Execution

To complete the 36 ft x 6 ft painting, I had to carefully budget for supplies. I stayed in close contact with the store owner throughout the process, ensuring all the colors were accurate and keeping her informed with regular updates on each step

  • Communication

Communication was the key skill I relied on to complete this mural for my client. It accounted for 90% of the process, and thanks to clear, efficient communication, I was able to finish the mural ahead of schedule with excellent results. My client and their customers gave great feedback, which made all the effort worth it.
